The violence of fashion remains largely invisible.
Although it affects millions of people, communities, and territories on a daily basis, it rarely takes center stage in analyses of the fashion industry. Its manifestations are frequently treated as isolated incidents, accidents, irregularities, or one-off breaches, rather than being understood as expressions of structural dynamics that run through global chains of production, distribution, consumption, and disposal. This invisibility makes it difficult to recognize the magnitude, complexity, and interconnectedness of the various forms of violence present in the fashion system, and limits the capacity of society, institutions, and the sector's own stakeholders to prevent, address, and transform them.
